It’s 2021, and the cold and COVID-19 have us stuck indoors with our loved ones. Keep things upbeat and bright with these online options from Northeast Ohio artists and cultural institutions.

Thomas Anonymous and Vanity Crash

Cleveland performance artist Thomas Anonymous joins Vanity Crash for a virtual tribute to David Bowie commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s death. They are streaming “A Lad Insane: The Beautiful Mind of David Bowie” live on Friday January 8 and Saturday January 9 at 7 p.m.

Cleveland Cinematheque

The Cleveland Institute of Art’s Cinematheque presents the documentary “Museum Town” about the evolution of the world’s largest museum of contemporary art, the Mass MoCA. The film is available from January 8 to 28 online in the Virtual Multiplex of the Cinémathèque.

Akron Art Museum

The Akron Art Museum presents its weekly “On Process” art lectures featuring local artists and writers discussing their work in casual conversations with museum staff. New lectures are uploaded every Saturday to the YouTube page and the museum webpage.

Dobama Theater

Dobama in Cleveland Heights offers its “Soliloquy Project”, a six-part series of shorts featuring monologues from past Dobama productions and contemporary playwrights. Four of the six films are available now on the cinema’s website.

Cleveland Public Theater

CPT hosts its monthly open mic for playwrights, “The Dark Room”, where writers are in the spotlight and have the opportunity to workshop their plays. “The Dark Room” is accessible to writers and performers as well as the public on the second Tuesday of the month, including Tuesday January 12 at 7:15 p.m.
