Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will take the stage at the Mandurah Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 6. This colorful and very powerful show is produced by the local Stray Cats Theater Company, directed by Karen Francis. You’ll be transported into the world of pure imagination with this tasty Broadway and West End musical, based on the famous novel and blockbuster movie. The famous Willy Wonka, played by Scott Hansen, opens the doors of his mysterious factory to the lucky winners of five Golden Tickets, hidden in the wrappers of fabulous Wonka chocolate bars. Young Charlie Bucket played by Luis Proctor, 10, and four other gold ticket winners, Tannah Pridmore as Violet Beauregarde, Thomas Hennessy as Augustus Gloop, Braeden Geuer as Mike Teavee and Emily Tamplin as Veruca Salt, will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s vibrant world of fantasy and color, including chocolate waterfalls, hazelnut squirrels, and the large glass elevator, all revealed by Wonka’s army of curious Oompa-Loompas. Based on the famous Roald Dahl novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig with songs from the film including “ Candy Man ” “I have a golden ticket”, “Oompa Loompa Song” and “Pure Imagination”.
