Pequot Lakes Community Theater presents ‘Newsies’ the musical
Based on the 1992 Disney film, “Newsies” is the musical tale of Jack Kelly, who dreams of a better life away from the hardships of the streets.
When Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearts raise distribution prices, Kelly finds a cause to fight for and rallies his army of reporters to go on strike.
Join the Performing Arts of the Great Lakes Region at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 22 and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Pequot Lakes Community Theater at 30805 Olson St.

Pillsbury Players presents the musical ‘Bye Bye Birdie’
This Elvis-inspired musical at 7 p.m. July 21-23 and 2 p.m. July 24 at the CTC Center Performing Arts Theater in Pillager will take you back to the 1950s and feature community members ages 8 and up. 70 years old.
Follow the MacAfee family and residents of Sweet Apple, Ohio as they welcome teenage celebrity Conrad Birdie, his songwriter and agent Albert, and others from his inner circle.

Lakes Area Music Festival offers immersive education for kids
Registration is now open for the Explore Music Day Camp at the Lakes Area Music Festival! for primary school children.
Sixty participants will move, dance, sing and play instruments each day and flex their creative muscles through guided improvisation from Monday, July 25 to July 29.
They will have the opportunity to celebrate what they have discovered with a live performance for children by professional LAMF musicians on July 30 at the Brainerd Public Library.
Explore music! is conducted by LAMF founding member Alexander Peña, who is now conductor at the historic ‘Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He will be joined by Christian Bigliani from the Eastman School of Music and other special guests.
