FRAMINGHAM – The next Gateway Camera Club meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held on Zoom, due to the pandemic.
World-renowned photographer, teacher, speaker, columnist and author, New York-based Jack Reznick will moderate the discussion via Zoo.
Our eyes are dynamic devices that are easily deceived and manipulated with what we see and how we see. In other words, seeing is not always believing. It sounds heavy, but it’s actually a lot of fun and entertaining to see how easily our eyes can be fooled and manipulated.
Why do we care? Because understanding how it all works can help you improve your photos and the way they are seen by others. The discussion will focus on understanding visual perception problems such as Gestalt theory, where the whole is more than the sum of its parts. This is the why of the way we see, such as what makes our eyes follow certain visual principles, what color combinations vibrate and look like kinetic motion, why our eyes move and wander from soft blurry areas to sharp areas in the dark. high frequency, etc. .
All of these issues help us as photographers create photos that excite and challenge our viewers. The basic design and composition will also be discussed.
Reznick is an Honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography and has twice received the International Photographic Council (IPC) Leadership Medal at the United Nations.
He was appointed visiting professor at Shandong University of Art and Design and appointed Grand Master Photographer Mo-Tse in China. Jack is proud to be one of the first “Canon Explorers of Light” and is also a Photoshop World “Dream Team” instructor, an “Epson Stylus Pro”, an X-Rite “Coloratti” and a Sandisk “Photo Master”. “.
