School of Performing Arts Announces Fall 2022 Season | VTX

The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts announces its 2022-23 fall season of performances by students, faculty members, and guest artists. Concerts, plays and events will take place at venues across campus; many events are free.

Musical events range from intimate chamber music recitals to large orchestral concerts and include a variety of musical styles. Performances take place at the Squires Recital Salon, the Moss Arts Center, and the Creativity and Innovation District Living-Learning Community Building.

This fall, two plays will be presented at the Squires Studio Theater, featuring Virginia Tech students. Each show lasts six performances with reserved seats.

  • Sept. 29-Oct. 4, Steven Dietz’s ‘This Random World’ – Harnessing the comedy of missed connections, ‘This Random World’ poses the serious question of how often we walk parallel paths through the world without realizing it.
  • November 10-15, ‘Describe the Night’ by Rajiv Joseph – Set in Russia for more than 90 years, this play traces the stories of eight men and women bound together by history, myths and conspiracy theories.

Movie theater

  • October 18, Progeny Short Film Festival – Every year, audiences look forward to the student-run Progeny Short Film Festival, which showcases local and regional talent. This year’s categories include Animation, Documentary, Experimental, Hokie Short, International, Storytelling, and Social Commentary. The festival will take place at the Burriss Auditorium.
