Texas Performing Arts & Broadway in Austin Present “CHICAGO,” Nov. 1-6, 2022

The hit musical CHICAGO returns to Austin, as part of the Texas Performing Arts 2022-23 Broadway season in Austin. CHICAGO will perform at Bass Concert Hall November 1-6, 2022. Texas State alum Logan Floyd plays Velma Kelly, and they joined Studio 512 to talk about their experience onstage.

With a mythical book of Fred Eb and Bob Fossemusic by John Kander and the words of Fred Eb, CHICAGO is the longest running American musical in Broadway history – and it still shows no signs of slowing down! After 25 years, CHICAGO is still the only musical with everything that makes the Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz, with one breathtaking song after another and astonishing dance.

There’s never been a better time to experience CHICAGO, the Broadway hit. This triumphant musical has received six Tony Awards®, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy® and thousands of standing ovations. As the 25th anniversary is celebrated, you can come see why the name on everyone’s lips is still… CHICAGO.

Set in the midst of the dazzling decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after threatening to leave her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she tricks the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, into hiring Chicago’s most skilled criminal attorney to turn her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, which could might as well be taken from today’s tabloids. .

Time Magazine calls it “A Triumph”, Newsweek raves about “Smashing” and Entertainment Weekly sums it up by calling CHICAGO “Broadway’s most electrifying show.”
