The Vernon & District Performing Arts Center Society brings back its “Free Night at the Theater!” event to give the North Okanagan public, fans and sponsors a preview of its 2022-23 SPOTLIGHT season Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Audiences are invited to take a 45-minute guided tour of larger-than-life video highlights on VDPAC’s giant screen, including commentary from some of the guest artists for the upcoming SPOTLIGHT season.

VDPAC Artistic Director and BC Touring Council 2022 Presenter of the Year, Erin Kennedy will lead audiences through an exclusive preview of the upcoming season.

A pre-show sponsors reception in the renovated VDPAC Okanagan Spirits foyer, with drinks courtesy of host sponsor Peller Estates, will bring together long-time and potential sponsors as part of VDPAC’s efforts to encourage safe return and confident from the North Okanagan community at the performance arts center with a busy schedule this fall.

“Several presentation sites across the country are holding similar season kick-off events,” said general manager Jim Harding. “We introduced this event here in June 2019 to give our audience a better idea of ​​what each show will be like, using video to convey the kind of live performance experience they can expect. You’ll leave energized and excited for the new season and hopefully intrigued by shows you didn’t expect!”

Another goal of the event is to reintroduce VDPAC’s subscription options after a two-year hiatus. In addition to classic theatre, dance and children’s series subscriptions, VDPAC has added more flexible ‘Pick 5’ and ‘Pick 10’ subscription options for ‘frequent flier’ customers who want to mix and match shows. of different genres, including special presentations.

“Free Night…” audience members will receive a “checklist” of the season to follow along with highlights from the video and staff will be available in the main foyer after the presentation to help subscribers and answer their questions. .

The ticket seller will also be open for customers to purchase subscriptions and single tickets.

The 2022-2023 SPOTLIGHT season kicks off with rush Juno Award-winning Joel Plaskett with special guest Mo Kenney on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. as part of his “44 & More on Tour.” Customers are urged to hold onto their Joel Plaskett tickets for credit toward a SPOTLIGHT “Pick 5” or “Pick 10” season pass.
